Scotland amateur Gordon Lyall (5.9 handicap) has won twice on the European Players Tour. He used his handicap to comfortably beat Ryder Cup players and European Tour winners. He tipped a strong pro and amateur field at both Walton Heath and East Berkshire in 2023. These were 2 of his 3 biggest career wins.
Lyall is a Glasgow Rangers football fan! Despite reaching 60, Lyall is fit and competing well on the European Players Tour. He has been as low as a 2 handicapper. He currently has 22% top 10 finishes in 2024 and remarkably 67% top 20 finishes. Since March 2023 he has played 42 rounds over 32 tournaments scoring an average 31 stableford points.Over the two seasons he has 38% top 10 finishes and 74% top 20 finishes making him one of the strongest players on tour.Gordon Lyall is now a member of 3 golf clubs. He has been a member of Vale Do Lobo, Portugal for 7 years and Burhill (Surrey) for the past 3 years. He recently added Hayling Island to his memberships.
He was a former member of Surrey Downs GC.Lyall’s favourite UK courses played are Sunningdale Old, Swinley Forest and The Berkshire, Red Course. His favourite overseas are Green Monkey (Barbados), Valderrama (Spain), Quinta do Logo South (Portugal).He has recently played against European Tour winners Philip Price, Stephen Dodds and Steve Richardson whilst competing against premier league legends Matt Le Tissier & Alan McInally.
